.DISCUSSION...

KEY MESSAGES:

- Return to summer like conditions through early next week

High pressure building to the west will bring a warm and dry
northwest flow aloft to western Montana and north central Idaho
into early next week. Temperatures will climb through the period,
with the warmest temperatures currently anticipated for Tuesday.
Western Montana valleys will see temperatures reaching into the
low 90s while lower elevation of north central Idaho could reach
into the low 100s.

A wave of energy on Tuesday afternoon and evening will enhance the
potential to see the development of thunderstorms across Lemhi
County and southwest Montana. Very dry conditions at the surface
will set the stage for gusty outflow winds with any storms that
develop.

The upper level flow is anticipated to flatten and become more
westerly ahead of a low pressure trough digging southwards out of
British Columbia. The main result will be breezy winds across the
region. With lingering warm and dry conditions in place, this will
elevate fire weather concerns. There is also potential to see
afternoon and evening thunderstorm development.

Cooler, breezy and potentially showery conditions are setting up
for Thursday into Friday next week as the low pressure trough
moves eastwards along the Canadian border. Right now forecast
models are not favoring a wet scenario like more recent weather
systems have been.

&&

.AVIATION...Expect drier and warmer conditions through the
weekend. Mid level clouds will pass through northwest Montana
along the Continental Divide, but further west, clear skies will
prevail. Winds are anticipated to be light and terrain driven.
